I know what you did last Autumn...

HARVEST RAIN is the project of brothers Jason and Jamey Thompkins. Born and raised in the swamplands of South Carolina, it comes as no surprise that these local images inspire their music. In their teenage years, they started out in several 'horror-punk' or 'death-rock' bands and were influenced by the likes of The Misfits, Samhain, or Christian Death. From there they simply took things more seriously and folk music became a bigger influence. From local farmlands and traditions to haunted grounds and folklore, HARVEST RAIN started putting songs on tape in 1995. Throughout the years, they have recorded numerous songs which they compiled on CD-R releases (" Seek the fallen Leaf ", " Evening and Devotion ", the latter featuring a song recorded during a tornado watch) and played live only a couple of times. HARVEST RAIN get inspiration from walks in fields, folklore, visiting local 'Haunted areas' or european tradition/ways.

Their music has been dubbed as 'Dark Folk', 'Autumnal Folk' or 'Samhain Folk'. Its worth mentioning that each year on the night of the Autumnal Equinox they begin their recordings, thus the caption 'Autumnal Folk'. Harvest Rain have a musical connection to the Autumnal seasons and try to convey that in the music.

After having listened to the CD-R releases of HARVEST RAIN in 2001, OPN (France) was amazed by the ghostly and weird atmospheres inside HARVEST RAIN's music, and offered to put out their first official effort. This debut five-track MCD, " A Frost Comes with the Wind " (OPN CD 03), captures at its best the magic art of the Thompkins brothers. HARVEST RAIN were pleased and grateful to know that Matt Howden of legendary group SOL INVICTUS would be playing violin on some tracks. He added a wonderful new atmosphere to the tracks and gave them an ominous, yet beautiful feel.

Now let your soul be guided by the ghosts of Autumn !
